2021 was the year of the skincare routine but 2022 is the year of the body care routine. Taking care of the skin on our body is trending everywhere and I personally couldn’t be happier. I hope you find my cold weather body care routine helpful.
As someone who has dry sensitive skin, I know all about the benefits of nourishing and caring for the skin on our body.
Why I started incorporating nourishing body care products into my routine:
I hate to admit it but for years I neglected to properly moisturize and take care of the skin on my body. I can’t begin to describe how much better I feel now that I am incorporating nourishing and hydrating body care products into my daily routine.
My skin is no longer:
- Flaky
- Itchy
- Irritated
- Dry
Our skin is the largest organ, it works day in and day out protecting us from the elements: pollution, weather, wind, harsh water etc… Let’s show it the TLC it deserves.
It’s time to get serious about body care, trust me your skin will thank you. Let’s dive into my cold weather body care routine must haves:
1- Opt for a gentle sulphate free body wash that won’t strip and dry your skin
My Pick: Live Clean Moisturizing Coconut Milk Body Wash
I discovered this amazing body wash when I was looking around for a clean and sulphate free option. It’s outstanding and I order it from Amazon . Not only is it extremely hydrating it’s also budget friendly. This $5.99 cruelty free, clean, dermatologist approved and hydrating formula checks all the boxes.

2 – Moisturize
This step is the most important especially during the colder months.
Top tip: Moisturize when you get out of the shower and your skin is slightly damp to the touch. This will help the moisturizer to be extra effective and seal in moisture.
For the body I have a few different options on hand at all times. This is because I like to approach my body care routine in the same way I do my skincare. I use a lighter texture lotion in the morning and the heavier ones at night to make sure my skin is getting optimal hydration.
My picks:
LaRoche Posay Lipikar Baume AP+M
The new LaRoche Posay Lipikar Baume AP+M helps to balance your skin’s microbiome and provides immediate soothing, anti-itching benefits. I’ve been using their formulas for years, and they continue to improve with the latest science. This is great for sensitive skin, and suitable all ages including kids and newborns.
Run don’t walk to your local Shoppers Drugmart and get this incredibly transformative body lotion.

3- Hand cream:
The skin on our hands gets it the worst in my opinion. In a typical day I wash a million dishes, cook, clean and everything in between. My hands constantly feel dry and flakey. Hand cream is an absolute must for me to function. I have a hand cream in every corner of my house: in my kitchen, bathroom, next to my bed and even next to my laptop.
My pick:
Glysomed
I have been using Glysomed for years, it is hands down (pun intended) my favourite hand cream.
Glysomed Hand Cream is one of my must-haves to help combat the drying effects of cold weather and frequent handwashing and sanitizing. I love the convenient sizes – you can keep one in your purse or pocket, one on your desk – so it’s always within reach. The long-lasting glycerine-chamomile formula helps to lock in moisture and prevent dryness, and also to soften, soothe and moisturize dry, rough hands.

4 – Use a natural deodorant
This might be a bit TMI but I think it’s important to talk about. I use deodorant on a daily basis and find that regular deodorants irritate my skin and make my underarms extremely itchy and uncomfortable. Ever since switching to a natural deodorant I have no more discomfort. This has definitely been an amazing switch in my routine.
My Pick: Boscia Prebiotic + Probiotic Freshening All-Over Body Deodorant
This multipurpose body deodorant neutralizes odour, restores skin balance, combats wetness and soothes for clean, long-lasting protection. Tackle sweat with an energizing lemon scent for a clean feel throughout the day!

There is a detox process when you start to use a natural deodorant by the process is so worth it!
5- Invest in a loofah
If you haven’t “loofah’d” you don’t know what you’re missing out on.
Not only is a loofah a great indulgence and the perfect addition to your shower/ bath time routine but, they gently exfoliate to reveal fresh, radiant skin.
